Winter Comes to Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Pilings appear to float on the mirror-still evening water of the Chesapeake Bay inlet at St. Michaels, Maryland. The town of about 1,100 was founded in 1633 and was known for ship building and shipping tobacco to Europe that was grown on Maryland’s fertile eastern shore.
